The Jewish People and the Jewish Religion

The Jewish People and the Jewish Religion

We watched two videos about Judaism (the Jewish Religion) and the Jewish people. Some things I found out were:

- They were forced to wear a yellow star.

- Elie and his people were made to live in a ghetto and later move into a smaller ghetto before leaving for a concentration camp.

- Once they were in the camp they had to have shaved heads.

- the Nazis were mass murderers who would burn babies and leave them in a mass grave.

One thing I thought was interesting was:

I found that the fact that the Nazis only targeted the Jewish people interesting.

I would like to find out more about:

what started this hate towards Jewish people.

Elie Wiesel, Author of Night, Aged 12

Blogpost 2 - Elie Wiesel Aged 12 Your learning blogs are linked from this page on the class website.

Elie Wiesel, Author of Night, Aged 12

Our English class is studying the memoir Night, by Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel. I worked in a group with ella-jaye, elise to create an Empathy Map for Elie at this age.

Take a screenshot of your Empathy Map and paste it here.

Then a short paragraph(s) describing Elie and his life at this time.

Elie is around twelve years old. He is Jewish and extremely religious, he is eager to learn more about his religion. His father says that he should start learning at 30 and not at such a young age because he wouldn't be able to comprehend it. Since his father wouldn't help him with his studies he found his own master in kabbalah who is called Moishe the beadle, who helps him understand more about his religion.
