We read the poem ”sad joke on marae″ in English. It was written by Apirana Taylor and tells the story of a Maori man named Tu who has lost his language. He only knows the words tihei mauriora. He doesn't know his pepeha or his history but with the tongue of the tekoteko, who had thrown it down to him, he said that jail is his home, his tribe is beer, and his marae is the pub.
